The Hard Questions

Public service should come with accountability.

Six questions I would rather answer myself than have answered for me. Every answer is in my own words.

If a candidate only answers the easy questions, you have learned something about the candidate.

Yes. Leadership sometimes requires a vote that will not please everyone in the room, and four years is long enough that it has happened more than once.

  • Voted against a district budget over spending concerns
  • Voted against a strategic plan over concerns with portions of its language
  • Cast a difficult vote involving Flint Hill because of concerns regarding SILFAB

My responsibility is not to work out which position draws the least criticism. It is to listen, study the issue and vote for what I believe is right.

Being heard and always getting the outcome you want aren’t the same thing.

The Promise

What I can promise, and what I can’t.

I cannot promise I will always agree with you. I can promise the process behind the answer.

Listen.

Ask questions.

Consider the information presented.

Make the decision I believe best serves students and the district.

Still have a question?

Ask it. I would rather hear it from you than read it secondhand.
